Please check out my new website/blog "Stars After Stars After Stars", devoted to my multi-decade "career" in music. If you like really obscure music, I was probably in a band with a guy who was in a band that you heard of. Check that theory out in the Scrapbook and the Discography.
The new blog replaces my 1st website, "The Very Thing That You Treasure", named after my 1st solo LP/CD whatever, and is named after my new CD/LP whatever, which will be coming out at the end of March (it came out in Australia last November). It's all covers, most of them pretty obscure (Tracy Thorn, Jenifer Jackson, Hot Bodies, Jacobites, Scritti Politti, Pontiac Brothers) some not so much (Alice Cooper) and has some cool guest stars (Bun E from Cheap Trick plays drums!). I'll be posting all the songs there eventually, and the original versions by the original artists as well.

Some Of Your Lovin'

I bought this great 2 disc Carole King set a while ago and dumped it into the old Ipod. A cool song came on yesterday (I listen on random generally) and I was like, lemme see what Curtis Mayfield girl group production this is, and I looked at it and it was "Some Of Your Lovin'" by The Honeybees, written by Carole King. It really sounds like a Curtis song, but it's really great even though it's not him. Spectropop has a great Carole King link page here.

Murry Wilson, Rock & Roll Dad

Peter Bagge did this online (flash) cartoon a while ago for Icebox.com about the Beach Boys father, Murry. It's so fucking funny and sick. Murray is incredibly abusive but boy, does he LOVE music. The voices and the music are done by some Mr. Show people. You can watch the 1st episode at Icebox. Peter Bagge has the rest up on his site but it's hard to link to that page so here they are.

As My Wife Says

The Only Ones were one of the best bands of the Punk Rock/New Wave era. They were a little old for punk maybe (the drummer had been in Spooky Tooth...) but they weren't totally prefab like say, The Vibrators. Peter Perrett had a way of writing about being a junkie that always had a bit of good-natured humor about it. Even "Another Girl, Another Planet", their most famous song, to me is obviously a love song to junk, with lyrics such as "You get under my skin, I don't find it irritating, You always play to win, But I don't need rehabilitating, I think I'm on another world with you, I'm on another planet with you".There's a Peter Perrett site here.
