I've been meaning to write about this new "nostalgia" cable channel, the AmericanLife TV Network. There's some really great stuff on there. The programming is based on a different theme every night. "Secret Agents" features Man From U.N.C.L.E., Girl From U.N.C.L.E. and I Spy. "American West" features Kung Fu, Maverick, & Sugarfoot. My favorite night is definitely "Private Eyes", with 77 Sunset Strip & a bunch of cool shows that I hadn't even heard of, Bourbon Street Beat, Hawaiian Eye, and Surfside Six. A recent Surfside Six featured Shirley Knight (pictured) who also appeared on Bourbon Street Beat & Hawaiian Eye and is still a very busy actress. They also have comedies (Honeymooners, My Favorite Martian) family shows (Courtship Of Eddies Father) and much more. Check it out.
UPDATE: ooops... I just looked up who owns the AmericanLife TV Network and it's not good news: The Rev. Sun Myung Moon.
"The Washington Television Center is a Unification Movement Closely Associated Entity controlled by Moon through a series of shell and operating companies. This is the name for the office building at 650 Massachusetts Ave., NW in Washington, DC that houses Atlantic Video, Inc. and Nostalgia Network, Inc. also known as GoodLife TV which recently changed its name to AmericanLife TV.
The Moon organization purchased the building in mid 1991 in the name of the Washington Television Center, L.P. The managing partner at the time of purchase was a Delaware corporation known as WTC Realty, Inc. The officers and directors of WTC Realty, Inc. are Moon followers who have included Dong Moon Joo President of News World Communications, Inc. the publisher of the Washington Times."
I forgot to mention that besides the awesome "nostalgia" programs, I got kind of a right-wingnut vibe from some of their "original programming". Boy I'm good. So, watch the good nostalgia shows, but make sure you ignore the commercials, better yet, boycott anyone who advertises with them.

I wish we could see it here in the UK!

But what about people who advertise them, i.e. You? Should we boicot them? hehe. Well... you would have successfully recruited one viewer here if I could get this channel where I live. Would love to see these shows.
I think that a little religious nuttiness probably adds to the viewability of a tv channel. I don't watch tv anymore myself. It's just not interesting enough. This however, sounds deliciously bizarre.
