A couple of local NYC new reports about the series of gigs the Clash did at Bond Casino (there was no gambling there that I remember, so I don't know why it's called "casino") in June 1981. I was there on the first (massively oversold) night. All I remember is that Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five opened, and I passed out from the heat and overcrowding.

I like the bit when they show Kosmo Vinyl with the 'Joe Strummer' caption, and then show Strummer minutes later with the same caption..

I think "casino" was another word for "disco" back in the day...at least I can think of the famous Wigan Casino, which was also not a gambling establishment wither.

They were probably casinos before they were clubs?
