I didn't see this when it was broadcast, but I remember being jealous of the younger Cowsill kids, who were about my age, at the time, and I would have not liked Johnny Cash (because he was old and "country"). Seeing it now, you can really hear how thin the Cowsills voices were compared to Johnnys'.
The idea of pairing the traditional with the trendy seems quaint. Is there a possible equivalent now? Seems like music is such a soup, that no boundaries are sacred.
