The Capitol Theatre in Passaic NJ had some kind of in-house 3 camera B & W videotaping set-up that they used to tape the performances. I've got a few other shows like this one from other artists (including the Clash) from the Capitol Theatre. Here's the Pretenders, before everybody started dying, September 30th 1980 doing "Precious' and "The Adultress". Pretenders Capitol Theatre Part 1.mov

Cool Spike. This band was smokin'. Pete Farndon gave me a beer
once. Backstage musta been 15 or 16. Ray Davies was there. I feel lucky to have seen them a couple of times. Saw them open for the Who also and they were getting booed. Chissie Hynde's response was "Boo Who?"

Spike, You Rock! I remember when they saved my life. That first album changed me. I remember driving my oldest brother, who is about 18 years older than me, around town when I was learning to drive and I put "Precious" on in my tape player. I wanted him to hear what I was hearing, To feel what I was feeling, How it was going to change my life and how this song and The Pretenders was going to protect me from the bullies in my world...
He hated it and we got in a huge fight. I may have even cried because I looked up to him so. I wanted him to be proud of something I discovered. A band that was mine and no one in that stinking town knew about them.
Seeing that video brought all that back. I like a lot of music, but they really got to me then.
Thanks,
Jerry

Sweet!! I saw them about a month before this (Aug 23) at the Heatwave Festival in Canada with Elvis Costello,The B-52s,Talking Heads,Rockpile and many more bands too numerous to mention. The Clash were supposed to headline but cancelled out. When Costello took the stage he said,"Hi,we're the Clash!!" Need I tell you what a great day that was???!! Thanks for bringing back the memories...
