Excellent Xmas music list...but I would be remiss not to mention that it can't be complete without one of the Carpenters' classic Xmas albums "Christmas Portrait" and "An Old Fashioned Christmas"! Karen's amazing voice on traditional and not-so-traditional standards such as "The Christmas Waltz", "Christ is Born", "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve" (and of course their own "Merry Christmas Darling") are truly lovely to behold... Luckily they are now available as a double CD set "Christmas Collection" -- here's the Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/Christmas-Collection-Carpenters/dp/B000007XUQ/sr=8-1/qid=1163834593/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/104-7992297-0647161?ie=UTF8&s=music

It looks like it might be out of print now, but I'm a big fan of the Rotary Connection's christmas LP "Peace". For the most stoned-out version of Silent Night ever.

nice list. i wish rhino's "hillbilly holiday" was still in print.
i'd be a scrooge if i didn't plug this brand new one: "A King Family Christmas" - local NY area blues/roots musicians make Christmas Charity record to aid musicians in post-Katrina New Orleans. http://cdbaby.com/cd/kingfamchristmas

what about the new Sufjan Stevens Christmas album? (Songs for Christmas) there is a free song available at the moment, on iTunes, "That was the Worst Christmas Ever!" but the physical album comes with stickers and fun things. there was also a gothy Christmas album when I was in my teenage 90's goth phase.. something "..A Dark Noel" I think. some of it is painful, some of it is very pretty. for a spooooky Christmas. ;)

Hey great list, just wanted to add that I have found some good new Christmas music that isn't available on Amazon. I found Montgomery Bruce on Myspace and I'd recommend him if you're looking for some good instrumental Christmas music with more of a chill jazzy vibe. Also, Keith Andrew Grim is pretty good.
