I remember these very well so the four girls across the street must have had them. My brother and I had what must have been the equivalent set for boys, a set of 3 or 4 different plastic hats. I can't remember what they were except for the fireman's hat. Pardon the usage but that is what we called it at the time...

These were featured in a great Lynda Barry comic. Her character Marlys HAD to have these, against the wishes of all her friends. When they come via mail order, she bursts into tears at how hideous and deformed they are. Then in a flash of brilliance, the kids figure out that they make great monster heads. Lynda Barry can be so inspiring.
