Thanks to the Bedazzled crew for inviting me to take a part in this incredible site! I have spent many hours enjoying all of the incredible posts, and I'll do my best to keep up with their standards!
I have been hosting a site for nearly four years now called Derek's Daily 45, featuring 45's from my collection; mostly 60's, but I've also been including a fair amount of 70's soul as of late.
Here's a record that epitomizes the feel of New Orleans soul; the great Willie Tee shows his musical genius on this track which encapsulates so much of the feel of the city into a track that is also one of the greatest kiss-offs in all of music. Plus, those cymbal tingles that the drummer lays out thru the song (especially after the opening vocal line) and the type of things that takes an already transcendent song well into another world entirely.
As wildly popular as this record is with the soul crowd, no one seems to know exactly when it was recorded! Most place it at 1970, and I will stick with that. First Taste Of Hurt
