Richard Kerr is more known for his compositions than his own records, and as a consequence Deram DM 138, "Happy Birthday Blues" doesn't seem to turn up anywhere. I have to admit to having never heard this release but based on the fact that he co-wrote "Mandy" and "Looks Like We Made It" (I was hoping I would never have to think about that song again, to be honest) perhaps it's just as well. I don't expect it would be my cuppa anyway, so once again we will move along, to DM 139.

Your assumptions about this 45 are wrong. Actually, its a great extremely well produced double-sided gem with psych overtones and a strong flavour of the Summer of Love. 'Mother's Blue Eyed Angel' on the flip is arguably the stronger of the two up-tempo songs which, as you'd expect from Kerr, are lyrically strong.
