More Great exclusive Rock'n'Roll era footage from Dick Clark's Saturday Night Beech-Nut Show. June 21, 1958 : All Great, however you wanna or like to knock Dick Clark (and that's not talking about the later Fantastic Garage-rock sixties footage from his!)... :-)
"Santo & Johnny were an Italian-American rock and roll duo from Brooklyn, New York, comprising brothers Santo and Johnny Farina. They are best known for their instrumental "Sleep Walk", which became a regional hit and eventually reached the top of the Billboard pop chart when it was released nationally in 1959."
Italian-American? I always thought they were Hawaiian or Alaskan or something? Wasn't that the story for a long time?
People like to knock Dick Clark, how he instituted the Teen cleancut idols over the earlier grittier Rock rebels, BUT ... Actually he really was part of the environment and sub-culture; he had some of the best artists of the day like the Coasters, Isley Brothers, Chuck Berry, Everly Brothers, Johnny Cash, Ronnie Hawkins... and Eddie Cochran here sittin' in the Balcony when the hits were new and just out fresh, when these Rock'n'Roll artists were at the peak of their powers! Let's give DC some credit, his American Bandstand was seminal : ("Eddie Cochran Rules", like I alway say!)
