Les Prunes Électriques... Trip to France on Europe tour Fall '67: "The Great Banana Hoax" (Dim Dam Dom 1.14.68)

The Prunes were one of the rare original US Garage-bands to successfully tour in Europe during their prime, back in '67 ; all the fans or most, now would've heard their fantastic Live in Stockholm remastered since in HD but, let it be said that their best, more memorable shows were made on French TV where exclusive footage were to be found... like this legendary appearance on the foremost French Pop, Avant-garde TV program of the day : Bim, Dam, Dom (sounding a bit like : "Biff! Bang! Pow!" ) et en couleurs, s'il vous plait!

"Gloria", It's a ... Crying Shame at the Music Hall! (Live on French Tv; Apr. 4th/ 1966)

Not to be confused with the more famous American Garage-rock band : "The Cryan' Shames" (who hit it big with "Sugar and Spice" and "It Could Be We're in Love", etc.), these were the Liverpool 'Freakbeat' band that turned down the management of Brian Epstein, had a minor hit with "Please Stay" (b/w "What's New Pussycat?") and their third single "Come On Back" as Paul and Ritchie and The Crying Shames produced by Joe Meek late in '66 (which is something of a Freakbeat classic now!).

Duo co-Singer Paul Crane went on of course to sing lead in ex. Walker Brothers, Gary Walker's Rain who had a modicum of success in Japan releasing an album there in '68, now regarded as a Classic Freakbeat Mod Psych album...

Here, following their minor success with "Please Stay" that was also launched in France, they were invited to play on the April 4th programme of Music Hall de France who had all the greats back then (like the Who, Yardbirds and Spencer Davis Group...); they give a rousing Organ-ized version of the recent then Them group classic :

The Move - "I Can Hear The Grass Grow" (Tête de Bois et Tendres Années 4.12.67) Amazing Live Performance!

Another amazing live performance by The Move. How cool are these guys? Trevor Burton is playing his guitar backwards, Carl Wayne's lead singer histrionics are over-the-top and hilarious, bass player Ace Kefford is the coolest, and everybody sings and plays their asses off (especially Ace on that bridge - "Get a hold of yourself now baby...").
