My favorite song by Joe Meek's favorite artist, Heinz (he was kinda in love with him, evidently). Whenever a Heinz song pops up on my ipod it always cheers me up. How could you not love a song with a lyric like "Been invited to a party. And I'm gonna go." Extra bonus is another version by another Meek artist Glenda Collins.

Actor Nick Moran of Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels fame, is set to launch the UK premiere of his debut play, TELSTAR , directed by Paul Jepson .
TELSTAR takes us back to the iconic sounds of the 60's, telling the incredible story of Joe Meek, the world's first independent record producer, whose explosive and bizarre life changed the world of popular music.
TELSTAR opens at the Cambridge Arts Theatre on 2 February and tours to a further five venues until 12 March.
Thanks to Steven Daly for the tip.
More "Unknown" Meek...there's a new Meek site that's promising to post a bunch of MP3's. The 1st two are great.

"Heinz Burt was Joe's golden boy, for whom the future would hold nothing but gold records, sold out tours and feature film roles. At least that was the plan. Joe invested so much time, energy and money in his young protégée that anything less than Super Stardom would have been a let down. There was also a rather wild card shuffled into his deck, Joe was deeply in love with him."

I got this Joe Meek boot a while ago called "Random Flakes Volume 2" (I'm getting Volume 1 soon too...). It's pretty funny stuff-half finished songs, songwriting "sessions", some studio chatter etc. There are no credits. I'm gonna make this a regular feature til I've posted all the "good" ones.

I'm not sure if there are any other Joe Meek Christmas songs but this one by "The Valerie Masters" is pure genius-as-usual for him.
