"This band was formed in Cleveland in 1967, and Eric Carmen joined
later in the year when he was turned down to be a member of (other huge
local band) The Choir. Eric also snagged guitarist Wally Bryson (fresh
out of the Choir) to join Cyrus Erie, and Cyrus Erie became a local
phenomenon, covering the likes of the Who and Small Faces in addition
to their originals." Link.
Boy, TV used to be alot more interesting...

The Record Brother turned me on to this.
The Hound says: "The original Fleetwood
Mac (1968-1971) were a very different band than the one that conquered
the American airwaves in the late seventies and became on of the
biggest bands in history.
The originals group-- Peter Green (guitar/vocals), Jeremy Spencer (slide guitar/vocals), John McVie (bass) and Mick Fleetwood (drums), supplemented in 1969 by Danny Kirwan (guitar/vocals) were a hard rockin'
blues band, one of the best ever, with a great rhythm section and a
triple threat front line who took their American blues influences and
created a totally unique sound. I prefer them to anything Eric Clapton
ever did, not to mention anything Jeff Beck or Jimmy Page did after the
Yardbirds.
Much has been written about Peter Green so I'll leave the subject alone
for today to concentrate on Jeremy Spencer's contributions" Link.
Another great summer song. Sad but beautiful. Buy There's Gonna Be A Storm by the Left Banke.
My favorite version of "Summertime".

I've spent the better part of the last couple weeks looking at Garage Rock videos and trying to compile the best quality ones I could find. I was really struck when I discovered this one, because it's just about the only one I could find (the other being The Monks on the German show "Beat Beat Beat") where the band is actually playing live and not just miming to the record. And they sound awesome. I'm no Garage expert but I 'm pretty sure that The Remains were one of the best Garage Bands, musicality-wise. They sound amazing here. (I should add that I'm talking about US Garage Bands, there's alot of great live video of Euro and UK Garage and Psych bands, mostly from the German TV show "Beat, Beat, Beat")
Buy The Remains on Amazon.
I recently found came across this weird animated Cinebox film of Screaming Jay Hawkins' "Frenzy!". Primitive, but so was Screaming Jay.
Man, they loved those Beatles Medleys back in the 60's and 70's... Here, the Righteous ("Righteous, where do you see righteous you greaseball?") Brothers and Nancy Sinatra tackle songs from "Rubber Soul" with predictable results (very lame but slightly amusing).
Righteous Brothers – "I've Just Seen A Face"
Nancy Sinatra & The Righteous Brothers – "Run For Your Life"
The Righteous Brothers – "Girl"
Nancy Sinatra & The Righteous Brothers – "Wait"
The Righteous Brothers – "Michelle"

"It’s not widely known but Georgie Fame was slightly connected to the
Profumo affair, the political scandal that led to the resignation of
John Profumo the Secretary of State for War in October 1963, and
ultimately the Conservative government a year later in 1964". Link @ Another Nickel in the Machine
My old friend Andy Schwartz has re-started his old fanzine "New York Rocker" as a website and blog. He writes "On a visit to my former Sony Music office circa 1999 from his adopted city of Stockholm, the one and only Izzy Young
entrusted me with a reel of analog tape containing his one and only
recording of Tim Buckley’s first New York concert. Appearing March 6,
1967 at Izzy’s Folklore Center in Greenwich Village. Tim performed a
lengthy set for an estimated 35 listeners accompanied only by his own
12-string acoustic guitar."
